Celebration of Diwali at Marianopolis

November 4th was marked by the celebration of Diwali. At Marianopolis, the Desi club in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs committee organized two activities for the celebration.

During Thursday’s activity period, students participated in a candle holder making workshop. Everyone was invited in A-307 to make candle holders from clay. People gathered in the room and created diverse fabrications of every shape and colour. They listened to Bollywood music and sang all in a good mood. They joked around and wished each other a happy Diwali!

The second part of the day was from 6 to 7 pm in the west courtyard where the candles were lit up near the central statue. It was beautiful to see all those lights and people cheered and rejoiced as they admired the sight. Several pictures were taken and people were careful to let the fire blow out naturally. People left with their candles and if you forgot to take yours, you can contact the Desi club to get it.

It was overall a great success all thanks to the Desi Club and it can only be hoped that the event will take place next year too! If you want more information on Diwali, check out our most recent article!
