Lend me your ears, MSU!

Welcome back to school after this long winter break.  We hope that your vacations were pleasant and restful, and, on behalf of the Executive Team and the members of the Marianopolis World Review, we wish you a Happy New Year and all the stamina and strength to succeed in this last semester of the school year.

In the first Congress Meeting of 2018, a few matters were discussed.  The meeting began by recapping the Social Justice Committee’s “Time’s Up Poetry Night”, held in support of the #MeToo Movement, was a success!  The event, sponsored by David’s Tea, debuted with an interactive workshop on sexual consent hosted by Head & Hands which was then followed by powerful pieces from some of our brave and talented students.

Furthermore, the mid-semester party has entered the planning stages; the venue and date are being decided upon, so stay tuned!  In addition, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, a fair on Dating, Relationships and Mating, in collaboration with the Sexual Violence Committee and the LGBTQ+ Committee, will be held on February 13th.  Both happy couples and single-and-proud students are invited to play games and get informed on all things romance.  If that still isn’t enough incentive for you to check out the lovely event, MSU’s Congress will be giving out tea and baked goods.  Other Valentine’s Day-related events are also in the works; the Latin Club is proposing to hand out valentines (for all you singletons out there) and set up a Polaroid Photo Booth (2$ for 1 and 3$ for 2).

Finally, a message to all those who avoid the gym like the plague: intramural sports, such as basketball and soccer may soon be able to count for ponderation if you register as a team and are part of a league.  More information on the matter to come.
