FRESH FRUIT FRIDAY, NEW MERCH, AND THE SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE: Congress Weekly – February 25th, 2022

Social Justice Committee

Within the frame of the committee’s month-long Jeunes Contre Les Violences à Caractère Sexuel (VCS) campaign, the Social Justice Committee held an Open Mic Night in the student lounge last Friday, February 25th, as a way to create a safe space for students to join together and speak about topics surrounding sexual violence. The night was filled with meaningful discussions, heartfelt performances, and delicious tea & fairtrade chocolate! Read more about the initiative:

Furthermore, as the committee is in the beginning stages of turning three rooms of the A-100 wing into greenspaces, club members visited the spaces this week and brainstormed on possible plant species as well as layout concepts.

Fresh Fruit Friday

On Friday, March 11th, the cafeteria will test run its latest initiative, Fresh Fruit Friday, which aims to bring free fruits for students to enjoy at the end of each week. If successful, FFF will become a recurring undertaking.

School Merch

The Coordinator of Communications, Seol Han, along with her committee, has designed a school agenda that will be available for purchase once students’ interest has been gathered through a survey that will be shared later this week. It is also a possibility, for next year, to budget and print physical agendas.

In addition, Marianopolis headwear merch, such as caps and beanies, have been designed and will soon be accessible for students to buy. More information will be given in the coming weeks on this topic.

Covid-19 Guidelines

The Covid-19 guidelines in relation to club activities have remained the same— only 25 students per activity and 10 students per table in designated eating areas are permitted. Vaccine passports are still mandatory and need to be verified by Josie (A-156), Trudy (A-158), Adam (A-160), or Vero (A-126) before any club activity. New guidelines on this matter will be announced on March 14th.
