Who Doesn’t Like Free Food?: Diwali, Día de los Muertos And Warm Up Wednesday

Diwali Lunch

Thursday, November 3rd, AP, at the student lounge!

Traditionally, Diwali gathers the whole family together for a feast. To celebrate Hindu tradition, the Marianopolis South Asian Club offered students an incredible meal to enjoy. With Congress pitching in as well, the club could feed well over 200 students. The executives strongly believe that sharing traditional South Asian food will help promote the beauty of their culture.

The club offered free lunch to students who brought their own plates and utensils in an effort to be more environmentally-friendly. Alternatively, students could donate non-perishable food items that Adam will collect and donate to a local food bank.

Día de los Muertos

November 1st Tuesday, during AP, in A-104.

To celebrate el Día de los Muertos, the Cultural Affairs Committee prepared food samples and a light-hearted face painting activity. The members served traditional pan de muerto and Mexican hot chocolate.

Warm Up Wednesday

This week, instead of coffee, President Max Chen Huang offered students hot chocolate. Congress installed a booth during lunchtime, right in front of Adam’s office. First come, first served!

Tea Time Tuesday

Thank Andreea, Marianopolites! Our dear Administrative Assistant will offer free tea to students on an upcoming Tuesday. MSU will announce the exact date on their Instagram page.

Mari Merch Monday

Students who repost MSU’s upcoming story and tag their friends will automatically be entered in the giveaway! Check out their Instagram for more details.

Martial Art and Self-Defense Workshop

Students could also sign up for the martial arts/self-defense workshop. The activity was held on Thursday, November 3rd during AP in F-105. Sensei Nicolas Bellevue-Fortin, a Fit/Kick teacher at the College taught students beginner techniques for self-defense.

For some reason, Coordinator of Student Advocacy David Li thought it would be a martial art tournament. So, he told Mari On Air to promote it as such…Unfortunately (or fortunately), no combat took place.

Students had the chance to sign up on the “Martial arts/Self-defense Workshop Google Form” found in MSU’s linktree, on Instagram.

Intercollegiate Film Contest

Coordinator of External Affairs Cindy Li also wants to remind students that they can still participate in the Intercollegiate Film Contest.

Students will have to submit a two-minute francophone short clip on a given theme. The contest winners will receive prizes totalling up to $2,000 in grants and film equipment rental!
