Orientation Day: A Perfect Welcome
Another school year at Marianopolis has begun. In case you missed it, here’s how we kicked it off.
On Tuesday, August 14th, the annual Marianopolis Orientation Day was held by the school in collaboration with the MSU. Incoming students attended general information seminars and had a chance to discover the college.
This year, the MSU made so that a variety of student clubs could hold interactive activities all over the school grounds. These interactive displays gave students a chance to learn more about Marianopolis’ student life before Join a Club Day. This included the Spikeball Club’s outdoor spikeball activity, Hallyu’s dance showcase, the Plotlab’s “match a classic with it’s cover” (this one came with prizes, a singular piece of candy) and an incredibly entertaining game of trivia with the Trivia Club.
Congress had a separate stand as well. This helped answer student inquiries about Mari’s student government and promote the upcoming elections. You can follow the Marianopolis Student Union’s Instagram page for more information about the elections. Both appointed and elected positions are currently open for interested first years.
Many other activities such as carnival games, face paint and custom caricatures were also there for students’ entertainment. Jugglers and various food stands with inclusive meal options were also available, we even got to try out a cotton candy maker.
This event gave new students a chance to connect and settle into their new environment, locating their classrooms and relaxing before the start of a busy semester. Returning student volunteers also had a chance to reconnect with their friends after a very long summer.
The whole day was packed with smiles and cheer. Needless to say, the event was a huge success and guaranteed that everyone had a great time, making it the perfect first introduction to Marianopolis for our spirited first-years.
