Congress Weekly: Welcome Back, Office Renovations and Election Updates

Speaking between bites of sushi prepared at the school cafeteria, Congress discussed three key matters relevant to the school population.

Congress Welcome Event

The logistics behind an upcoming event were first outlined. On August 22nd during AP, the Marianopolis Congress hosted a “Welcome Back” event where students ate ice cream and partook in fun games such as bubble soccer and foot darts.

Congress Office

The Congress Office is currently undergoing some physical and structural renovations. Some of you may already know how crowded the workspace already is. Unfortunately, this limited space reduces the productivity and accessibility of Congress members. Their solution is to now allow fewer students inside their workspace, prioritizing those with concerns to voice.

Election Updates

Similarly, some election rules and practices are being revisited to facilitate a fairer and more thorough overall experience. For one, candidate debates will now actually be debates, as opposed to a series of loosely related and generic speeches. Students will also have the opportunity to submit questions for candidates to address. Moreover, the MSU constitution will include the new rules regarding endorsements and social media use for candidates.
