Congress Weekly: Omnivox Communities, Halloween, and All Things Fall
On September 29, Congress met to discuss fall activities and MSU-related topics in the presence of Student Affairs Director Leticia Yansen.
Orange Shirt Day Recap
Doughnut and T-shirt sales amassed an amount surpassing the thousand-dollar mark for the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal.
Halloween and Spirit Week!
Because of a club bake sale, the MSU will be focusing on free, non-food-related Halloween activities. A costume contest, a photo booth, and pumpkin decorating are in the works and a makeup artist will be present. Plans for a spirit week with daily dress-up themes and prizes drawn among participants were also laid out.
Pumpkin Picking Activity
Leticia Yansen and MSU members are planning an outing to a pumpkin patch and corn maze on a Friday evening sometime before Halloween.
Outdoor Movie Night
The MSU is looking to organize a paying movie-viewing activity in the courtyard. The date will be determined via Instagram poll.
Future Congress Projects and Club Collaborations
The MSU is looking to create new Marianopolis-themed apparel, possibly in collaboration with the fashion club Mari Mode. Congress also wants to complete the school’s murals with cultural clubs and volunteer artists.
Financial Transparency
Members agreed to brief monthly financial statements as opposed to publicizing the spending on each event. Further budget discussions will happen at the Bi-Annual General Assembly.

Leticia Yansen offered Congress an Omnivox community to publicize their events.
Return of Mask Recycling
As per the requests of students and staff, the MSU has ensured the return of mask recycling boxes in the school.
Office Guests Ban
In response to tidiness issues, MSU members voted unanimously on a two-week trial ban of non-Congress members in their office. Office hours will remain open for inquiries.
