Congress Weekly: Violence Against Women Week and End of Semester Party Update

On Friday, November 24th, Congress met to discuss various topics. Here are the main ones:

News Blitz Agreement

This contract mainly defines Congress and the News Blitz’s relationship as well as terms the News Blitz has to follow when writing an article concerning the MSU. Only some minor changes were made to the agreement, so the rest stays the same.

Violence Against Women Awareness Week

Last Friday, Congress talked about a few initiatives related to this week, the main ones being a memorial to the victims of the École Polytechnique shooting and a reading activity at the library on November 30th to remember the event.

Giant Food Event?

MSU members mentioned a collaboration between cultural clubs and the culinary club that would involve something similar to a buffet, but specifics are yet to be determined.

End of Semester Party

Congress voted in favour of the party taking place at a rented venue instead of a club given both options’ similar costs. Those under 18 and people who are not Marianopolis students are allowed to attend the party. Alcohol is prohibited for minors, and ID must be provided by those who can and wish to drink. The party will take place at a warehouse close to Atwater, and ticket sales have already begun (the current price is $18). For more information, feel free to visit the MSU’s Instagram account.
