Congress Weekly: Recap of Miscellaneous Activities and End of Semester Party

On Friday, November 17th, Congress members and Leticia Yansen discussed various matters related to the student body.

Miscellaneous

Issa, the Coordinator of Cultural Affairs, announced that his committee collaborated with the South Asian Club for last week’s Diwali event, which turned out to be a success. Congress also shared that they are currently in discussion with sellers for the yearbook and that more club executives attended the Bi-Annual General Assembly than usual. Additionally, a reading activity is scheduled on November 30th at 2 PM in the library to remember the mass shooting that occurred at École Polytechnique in 1989.

End of Semester Party

Congress members were unsure about the specifics of the end of semester party. Whether the party will be reserved only to those above 18 is yet to be determined. However, Congress leans more towards that option as it would be more expensive to organize a party for people of all ages: the MSU would have to book a venue instead of making an arrangement with a club as they did last year. The costs of renting a DJ and security must also be taken into account if Congress decides to open the party to people under 18. More details to come.
